Here we are in the South Pacific! God has weighed on Glenn’s heart for over 5 years for us to move in faith to the South Pacific. You may not know that we almost did in 2001! We had a property chosen out, a deposit made, and another family to go with… Alas, it was not God’s timing. We’ve thought about it many times and looked up properties and flight prices countless times over the years but never made the leap. Family and Friends, we made the leap of faith to trust God’s word. We sold everything but a few bags of things we brought with us on the plane and a storage container left in the USA Do you know that God wants us to believe him? To understand him? To KNOW him? Isaiah 43:24 says “Saith YHWH, and my servant whom I have chosen: that you may know and believe me, and understand that I am he.” The Hebrew word for know is yadha. This ancient term encompassed a very personal level of familiarity and was often used to depict the close relationship between a husband and wife. We are beginning to know and believe God, we are praying for the understanding!!
Divine timing was given for our departure. All of our expensive items sold and the mustang sold not a day too soon. Glenn was even able to deliver it as he lived only to states away. The weekend that we decided to leave was also the ONE day of the month where flight prices were over $1000 cheaper! Our wonderfully supportive friends let us stay with them until we made our final preparations and heading to California to be with our family before flying out.
We’re staying in a nice 2-bedroom house on a lagoon. Muma & Zoamoré feed the fish & crabs with bread crusts and search for starfish every day. There’s a big market with lots of fresh organic produce. Zoamoré’s enjoys drinking coconut water right from the coconut and then eating the soft flesh when we get home. The women in the market just love Zoa, they often take her for a cuddle & show her off while I finish up shopping. The shops aren’t as bountiful as in the States and if we find something we like we better buy a lot as they probably won’t have it next time you go.
Typhoons. Tidal Waves. Tsunamis. So far we have been unaffected by them. One day the whole town closed down early to move to higher ground but nothing happened, besides, where we’re staying is a protected lagoon.
We like the place we’re staying in but it hasn’t felt ‘right’. We believe that God put it on Glenn’s heart and gave me the faith to journey besides him but for this? Not much has been happening. It’s been utterly stagnant. The business that we thought we would do wasn’t really as appealing anymore, we can’t grow food where we are (a big reason for being in South Pacific-to be self-sustainable), and there’s no Christians around us that we can connect with. Actually, they’ve been blatantly anti-god. So we knew this place is only temporary.
Family and Friends!! Have we got awesome answers to prayers to share with you! We’ve been asking YHWH to make things SO clear to us where He wants us that there is no misunderstanding God has made the way for us. Well God is shining a light on the path he wants us to take. Glenn’s been feeling pressed to go to a different island that is named after the Holy Spirit. There’s a LOT of things that happen along the way…. But basically while Glenn was on the other island found a great church through a missionary that approached him (that knows Pastor Judah- the pastor of our previous church!), found a house that far surpasses our expectations, and have already made some wonderful believing friends, some even from the USA. Apparently Glenn and I are a total answer to their prayers and we’ve got some awesome projects that are in the works.
Glenn’s friends with two guys on the island we’re on now, one’s a real estate agent and the other owns the company, which is two offices, one on the main island and one of the 2nd island that we’re going to. He found out that he was going to have to close down his second office as the manager put in her notice and didn’t have anyone he trusts to replace her. Not 15 minutes after he got that news… Glenn walks in asking if he’s looking for another agent. Well… Glenn has been given the office on the 2nd island, all expenses paid and already with some great listings!
Soon we’ll be leaving the main island and heading over to ‘Holy Spirit’. We’ve been invited by one of the most respected pastors of the country to stay with him for a few days. We’re considering becoming missionaries for his church and serving the local community.
Our health is good. Glenn & I have both experienced traveler’s sickness but doing well now. I’ve been visiting a French chiropractor who is excellent and talks to Zoa like Daffy Duck to keep her occupied while he adjusts me.
Zoamoré is doing wonderful. She’s 9 months old and she likes to play with food, brush her own teeth, hang upside down, she loves books, swimming and being outdoors. She says “mum mum mumma”, knows a few signs in sign language, and the words I know she can read for sure are ‘clap’ and ‘arms up’ – which she acts out just looking at the words without me saying anything to her. She throws her toys with gusto when she’s done playing with them and especially likes seeing her toys drop from her highchair!
Friends, you cannot feel a tenth of our excitement, peace and joy about us being here through this newsletter. We are enjoying being here and have so much peace having made the journey. Please pray for us to have a smooth transition into a joy-filled new home come December, guidance for possibly becoming missionaries, and a blessing on Glenn’s new work.
